Lucy Lu
I feel like all of my posts lately have been about Annie, or Laura, or me, and I wanted to catch everyone up on what my Lucy Lu has been doing! She turned 3 1/2 last month....I can't believe it. Sometimes I look at her and don't recognize her because she's so big and so grown up.
A little bit about Lucy these days:
- she is loving learning at home with mommy and is almost too smart for me to handle. She knows her letters, numbers, the sounds the letters make, can write her own name, and knows about 10 Bible verses, some of which she needs prompting with
- she loves her sister SO much
- she is a huge helper to mommy and loves to be helpful around the house. She makes her bed and brushes her teeth and gets dressed every morning by herself. Sometimes she needs help with her shirts...but really she is very independent.
- She is also great about cleaning up after herself and putting toys where they go. She's OCD about that like her mommy :) The other night after she was in bed I heard some rustling around in her room, so went in to check on her because she is not allowed to get out of her bed except to go potty. Mark and I walked into the room and Lucy looked at us, and said in a very stressed out voice "I had to clean my room because I can't sleep when my room isn't clean!" Haha...that is SO me.
- she is full of energy and is constantly running or dancing
- the girl has some CRAZY hair.
- She loves to play games. Her current favorite is Sequence for Kids, but she's a whiz at Memory and beats me on a regular basis
- She has been BEGGING me to get her ears pierced. At first we decided maybe for her 5th birthday, but somehow she has negotiated back to Christmas before that, and now for her 4th birthday.....not sure how that happened. I'm fine with it, but Mark isn't completely on board yet. We've told her if she stops sucking her thumb she can get them pierced for her 4th birthday.
- As evidenced by the above story, she is quite the little negotiator and arguer. She rarely takes the first answer and constantly pushes and questions. Sometimes she does it out of rebellion, but usually its because she really just doesn't want a short answer. I can usually tell the difference, and I'm trying to figure out how to encourage her to not argue with mommy and daddy without completely squashing her challenging and strong-willed personality.
- Dress up clothes are mandatory. Tutus, dresses, and anything sparkly.
- Although she is definitely a girly girl at times, she also loves animals, bugs, and being outside. This is a picture of her face after a ladybug flew out of her hand...
Lucy is such a joy and is constantly stretching and pushing my character and mothering tactics. She is SO like me in a lot of ways that the Lord has really taught me through disciplining and training her. I am so thankful for this kind-hearted, spunky, compassionate, strong-willed little girl.

First Wound
I remember at this age with Lucy, there was constantly a bump, bruise, cut or some sort of wound on Lucy's head. She was pulling up on everything, trying to climb and walk, and they are so top heavy at this age that their heads are naturally what hit the ground first! It's amazing how strong the Lord made their little bodies....
We are officially there with Annie. She is much more of a climber than Lucy was, and is pulling up and standing earlier than Lucy too. So naturally, we have our first head wound.
She climbed into the dishwasher....ALL the way into the dishwasher, and then of course fell out and hit the corner just right on her head. It left a pretty good puncture wound, and for a minute I contemplated taking her in to get it glued.....but the nurse in me decided against it :) I'm glad I didn't bring her in because it healed nicely and you can barely even see the mark now.
The first of many wounds to come for this little adventurous pre-walker!!

Valentine's Day Party
The Friday before Valentine's Day, Lucy had a party with all her buddies at her friend Riley's house. The girls had so much fun and I'm so glad Leslie likes planning parties like this.....because I don't :) I'll attend, thank you very much, but don't so much enjoy the planning/hosting part. Just one of those gifts I don't have .
Lucy and Riley
These three sweet girls are always attached at the hip....
The teacher in Leslie coming out as she rounds up the kiddos :)
picture pose!
Playing a game, and Lucy's face when she realized she had the matching heart! So precious.
Annie playing with the babes
Lucy organizing and going through all of her Valentines and goodies when we got home.
She seriously had a blast and has been talking about that party non stop. Can't wait for the next event, but don't expect me to plan it!

My Valentines
Enjoying her Valentine's Day treat from daddy this morning
Waiting in anticipation for more treats to be done
So blessed with my little Valentines!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Easy Valentine's Craft
Want a super easy Valentine's Day craft that doubles as a decoration?
STEP 3: Sew the end of your string onto some ribbon. I got this at Target last year in the dollar section. If I could live at Target I would.
STEP 4: Tie the ribbon to whatever you want the hearts to hang from. Stand back and marvel at your crafting prowess.
Ok, I never claimed to be Martha Stewart. But it is easy and cheap, and kid-approved. Lucy loves any kind of decoration and since I don't really have Valentine's decorations this appeased her and made our table look a little more festive.
If you want something more challenging, check Pinterest. And then blog about it and make me feel super inadequate.
Look no further.
You will need:
-scissors
-felt
-thread
-ribbon
-an enthusiastic helper (optional)
-questionable crafting skill (also optional)
STEP 1: Cut out some felt hearts. I did two colors, light pink and dark pink. I also used a cookie cutter to help me with the shape because I can't draw a straight line, much less cut a straight line. So cutting a heart is like impossible magic.
STEP 2: Sew the hearts on a string, leaving some space in between.
STEP 3: Sew the end of your string onto some ribbon. I got this at Target last year in the dollar section. If I could live at Target I would.
STEP 4: Tie the ribbon to whatever you want the hearts to hang from. Stand back and marvel at your crafting prowess.

12 minus 2
10 months ya'll!! Only 2 months away from being a year old....craziness. Annie is such a joy and continues to grow into such a sweet heart. Everyone who meets her wants to steal her and eat her up.
She looks angry here for some reason...
At 10 months, Annie is VERY active, does not like to hold still, and loves to get into mischief. Fortunately she's so cute that I don't mind chasing after her. About 2 weeks after she started doing her weird army crawl, she went straight to crawling all fours. She figured out that way is much faster....which means more mischief in less time....score.
- she is pulling up, but really prefers crawling.
- wears size 4 diapers and 12 month clothes. 6-12 are pretty much too small now....which stinks cuz I had alot of really cute 6-12 month clothes
- can say "mama", "dada" and "bye bye"; she also loves waving bye bye
- won't sign anything....even though I've been teaching her
- loves to help with mommy's chores....especially folding laundry
- is getting 4 bottles a day, although for atleast one of them she's very uninterested so I think I'll have to cut that back
- pretty much only gets baby food at lunch, otherwise she eats whatever we are eating
- is a great eater, but prefers bananas, peas, black beans, mac n cheese, eggs, and her new fave is yogurt. In the picture below she was eating black bean and corn salsa and picked out all the black beans and avocados first :)
- she still takes two naps a day and sleeps 12 hours solid at night
- loves her mama and loves to be held by that mama
- also loves her sister and is patient enough to put up with her many antics and games....well, most of the time
- she thinks her legs are too fat so she's taken up yoga....
- I, however, think her legs are adorably squeezable, especially when she squats like this
What a sweet blessing you are Annie! Happy 10 months....you can stop growing now :)
