I've been slacking...

Sorry about the lack of blog posts...things have been a little hectic in the Campbell household lately. I started my part-time job (it's awful....let's just leave it at that) and Mark has also started back at Longhorn on the weekends. We're kind of in limbo right now, trying to make a few big decisions and determine what's best for our family. Keep us in your prayers, especially Mark, during this stressful time. He is still loving his job at FreeTextbooks, but it's the slow season right now and we're just trying to figure out how to make it all work. Thank you friends and family for your love and support! (and thank you DeeDee for stocking Lucy's spring closet!)

The good news is, Lucy has no idea that mommy and daddy are stressed, and she has more personality than ever. She has decided that finger foods are much more fun than mushy baby food, so she's pretty much eating everything under the sun right now, even though she still has ZERO teeth! She had waffles this morning, along with some baby food that I shoved in her mouth in between waffle bites.

Yum...Heidi loves smelling Lucy's stinky hands.

This smile makes everything better!

Mmm...Cheerios!

Lucy has now been introduced to the wonderful world of finger foods. So far she's had some yummy rice crackers, pieces of banana, and the latest....cheerios! I am LOVING finger foods. She sits at the table with us while we eat dinner and doesn't make a peep because she's concentrating so hard on getting some food into her mouth. Its a fabulous stage! She's growing up way too fast!

She's spotted one and has decided to go for it...

almost got it...

Success!

6 month check up

Today was Lucy's 6 month check up, and also the last set of shots until she is one year old! Yay! She did great and the Dr was amazed at how advanced her gross motor skills are. She even waved when the Dr walked in the room, which is her new thing. The Dr said, "she's WAVING? That's SO impressive!" I just smiled and said, "yeah, she's a smartie". The waving is new, and very random, but she does do it in context every now and then.

Here are her stats from the check up:
weight - 17lbs 5oz (75%)
height - 27 inches (75%)
She's perfect!

In other news, I got a job at the Summit working in Urgent Care. It's only twice a week, so Mark will be able to schedule his trips to Birmingham around me working so that he can keep Lucy. This opportunity could not be more perfect, literally. The Lord continues to provide for more than we need or deserve and we are so grateful. Now if I could only get Lucy to take a bottle!! She really prefers to breastfeed, but we're working on it.

Here are some pictures from Valentine's Day:

Isn't Lucy's Valentine's outfit cute?!

Just let me whine

Let me start off by saying that we have nothing to complain about. We are beyond blessed. However, every now and then I just need to whine. Maybe it's because I hear whining all day long. So here I go...

1. Lucy has decided that she only needs 11 hours of sleep at night now. I know, all you parents who have kids that don't sleep hate me for saying this right now, but for all her life 12 hours at night has been the norm. Ever since her 6 month growth spurt, she is wide awake at 7am. I usually leave her in there until 7:30 talking to herself because I am NOT a morning person.

2. Why is it that GAP socks are the only socks that will stay on my child's feet? They aren't cheap, so I find myself shelling out more money for socks than anything else. But what's the point in buying socks that don't stay on?

3. What is up with this freaking weather? Three days in a row we sat outside for several hours on a blanket just soaking up the sun. This morning, it was 28 degrees. I am obviously ready for summer.

4. I may be going back to work part-time. I've had a few interviews/job offers, but haven't taken anything yet. Yesterday I had an interview at The Summit Healthplex, and it went really well. I think they're going to offer me the job, and I think I'm going to take it. Boo for going back to work. (although I realize that being able to stay home for 6 months is a great blessing)

Ok I'm finished. No more whining. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day! Mark and I are headed out tonight to celebrate early while the grandparents keep Lucy. Yay for free childcare!

According to the duck, the water is HOT!

As my sister-in-law Molly pointed out, this is probably the first picture ever taken with Lucy's mouth closed!

I have no idea what this is from. Mark must have taken it.

Daddy didn't feel like smiling.
