Heidi turns 2!

Heidi is two years old today! (and Lucy is 2 months today!) Just because we have a baby now, doesn't mean we have forgotten about our sweet Heidi. We had a celebration this past weekend and invited our family and their furry friends over to our house. Mark made some mean hamburgers on the grill, and we all had a blast, dogs included. Heidi did miss her cousin, Clem, who lives in North Carolina so didn't get to make it to the party. We missed you Sias family! Thank you to everyone who came, it meant a lot to us to have the whole family together at our house.

The neighborhood kids came over to play with the dogs. The whole neighborhood knows who Heidi is, and kids frequently ring our door bell to ask if Heidi can come out to play. Heidi obviously loves it because she loves kids and loves to play ball, and we love it because Heidi gets worn out and spends the rest of the day passed out on the floor.

Meredith took a trip over to the neighbors' to jump on the trampoline

Big Daddy and Lucy...I think they look alike

The dogs waiting patiently for their cookies

Eating Frosty Paws...its a frozen treat for dogs. Its ridiculous how much they love it.

Lucy had been sick all day and was burning up, so we kept her naked for the party. She seemed to like it

The Birthday Girl!

All the dogs laying down after A LOT of playing and running in the yard

Bella couldn't quite keep up with all the youngsters...she mainly supervised

Family Update

Hello all you Campbell Family Blog fans! I'm sure everyone has been anxiously awaiting the latest installment so I am happy to bring it to you. The last few weeks have been some of the most stressful but, as it would seem, also the most rewarding. Lucy has begun to consistently sleep through the night which is a HUGE blessing. Janna is still waking up around 4 in the morning because she is used to Lucy crying then, but hopefully she will begin to adapt. For about a week now Lucy has been falling asleep on her own at EVERY nap within a few minutes, and then sleeping at least 8 hours between 11 at night to 7:30 in the morning. Some of you may not see the excitement in that but for those of you who are parents can appreciate it.

One of the events that was stressful in the Campbell household recently was the decision I had to make between jobs. I've spent the last 4-5 months looking for a job, as many of you may know, which yielded a few promising leads but never anything concrete. Over the last 2 weeks i received basically 3 job offers (like my dad said it's either feast or famine). I had spent the entire Summer stressing over actually getting a job that I had never stopped to think about having to make the decision between jobs. So I narrowed it down to two. One of the jobs was an inside sales position at an interesting media company that provides audio/visual equipment for large trade shows and exhibitions. The other job, the one I decided to take, is one I am extremely excited about. About a year and a half ago I helped a friend of mine start up a small textbook selling company in the Birmingham area. I've stayed involved somewhat and helped him as much as I could over this past year but never anything long-term. He approached me about 2 weeks ago with the possibility of coming on full time with him. It took about a week of Janna and I talking about all of the sacrifices and risks we'd have to take if I went with this job. But, when it came down to it it was obvious to both of us that this is where I wanted to be and it was an opportunity that I couldn't let slip by.

All that being said (for those who are still reading and not skipping straight to pictures of Lucy), I will be working from home for the next three months helping develop our new business model that we plan on launching in the Spring semester (January). We'll be marketing specifically to schools in Birmingham and the surrounding areas for now, but the vision is to be nationwide within a few years. Because of that, starting in December or early January I'll be spending the bulk of my time in Birmingham. We're not exactly sure what this means long-term for our family but Janna and I both feel that this opportunity is a blessing and one that we are very thankful for. Please be praying for us while we cope with my commuting and being away from the family, and that God will bless this company and see it grow. Thanks everyone for your involvement in our lives over these last 5 months. It means a lot to us that you all come to this blog and keep up with us. Now that I'm done rambling you can enjoy the pictures of Lucy, James and Heidi.

First Swim!

I wanted to post the pictures of Lucy's first swim! Thank you for the pictures Aunt Meredith! There is a video at the bottom, I've never uploaded a video before (and Mark isn't here to teach me) so let us know if it doesn't work. Aunt Molly and cousin James are here for a visit this week so pictures of them playing together are soon to come!

She didn't like being on her back, but once I put her on her stomach she loved it

not sure yet...

I'm determined to make her a water baby

Chubby Lucy

Mark is slacking on this blog thing, so I decided to go behind his back and post! He's worried about other things right now...

Lucy is getting SO big, its ridiculous. I can't even remember what it was like to hold her when she only weighed 6 lbs. She has rolls everywhere, its so hard to give her a bath because I have to get in all the creases. That sounds gross, but its not I promise, its sweet. I love her rolls. We took her swimming the other day in the Campbell's pool, and at first she kinda freaked out but once I put her on her stomach and had her whole body in the water she loved it. She kicked and smiled, it was so funny. I don't have pictures from that because my stupid camera had a full memory card, so I'll put those up as soon as Aunt Meredith emails them to me. Here are some other pics to hold you over...

she's so good at holding her head up

those are some serious arm rolls

One month check up

Lucy had her one month doctor's visit today and received a perfect report (well why wouldn't she). The doctor was impressed again by her head control and alertness. She was 10 lbs 2 oz and 22 inches long. That makes her in the 75% for weight and 95% for height...she doesn't get that from her mom. The doctor said Janna has industrial strength breastmilk. Is that a compliment? We weren't sure. After the doctor we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous day and took a walk around Ashley Park with Lucy in her stroller. She loved the fresh air so much it put her to sleep. Just wanted to update everyone on her visit today. Here are a few pictures from the past week.

This is Lucy's newest pal, Sophie (Janna's dad and stepmom's Neopolitan Mastiff puppy). They are just about the same size, and liked laying on the pillow together.

Then Sophie started to climb on Lucy...

This is Lucy in Monica's moses basket. Pretty much every baby that has ever been born in her family has slept it in at some point, so Lucy had to get a picture in it!

Bathtime

Just thought this comparison was interesting...the first picture is from 3 weeks ago, the second is a few days ago. Looks like someone is enjoying bathtime much more these days.
